MFS
The ULTIMATUM MFS loudspeaker is a compact standmounting design which adheres to all the principles that have marked out the Ultimatum project as such an outstanding achievement. The ultra-rigid birch-plywood enclosure, unique baffle-decoupling technology, 'isobaric' bass loading and use of twin EMIT ribbon-type super-tweeters are employed here to deliver the ULTIMATUM promise of a lifetime of musical enjoyment - in smaller domestic environments.
Technical description
The MFS is a multi-chamber, multi-driver enclosure constructed from Birch Plywood. It is, essentially, a two-way design, using Neat's 168mm main drivers (re-designed to meet the requirements of the ULTIMATUM range), an 'inverted' titanium-dome tweeter, plus two EMIT ribbon-type super-tweeters.
The visible main drive unit handles bass and midrange and is isobarically loaded by similar drive units located inside the cabinet. The main tweeter is mounted above it, within a sculpted sub-baffle designed to minimise unwanted diffraction effects. The treble output is augmented by the two upward-firing EMIT super-tweeters mounted atop the enclosure.
Another ULTIMATUM feature is the use of decoupled baffles. The driver-mounting baffles (front & top) are fixed to the main structure via a polyethylene membrane. The total baffle is a 45mm thick 'sandwich' of birch plywood, polyethylene and MDF. This provides a rigid non-resonant platform, which is ideal for optimal performance of the drive units.
The crossover is a minimalist 3 element type (plus damping & attenuating resistors) employing precisely toleranced, low loss air-cored inductors and Neat's newly-developed polypropylene film & foil capacitors. The speaker exploits predominantly first-order crossover slopes and mechanical roll-offs for a natural, uninhibited performance.
A dedicated stand, incorporating a solid slate baseplate and tri-laminate top-plate, is available for the MFS.

The ultra-rigid birch-plywood enclosure, unique baffle-decoupling technology, the dual 'isobaric' bass loading and use of twin EMIT ribbon-type super-tweeters are again employed to provide an enthralling listening experience.
Technical description
The MF7 is a multi-chamber, multi-driver enclosure constructed from Birch Plywood. It is, essentially, a two-way design, using four of Neat's 168mm main drivers, two of which have been re-designed to meet the demanding requirements of the ULTIMATUM range), a Focal 'inverted' titanium-dome tweeter, plus two super-tweeters.
The upper and lower (visible) drive units each handle bass and midrange and these are isobarically loaded by similar drive units located inside the cabinet. The main tweeter is in the centre, making up a classic D'Appolito array. Its output is augmented by the two upward-firing EMIT super-tweeters atop the enclosure.
As with the ULTIMATUM MF9, the driver-mounting baffles (front & top) are decoupled from the main structure via a polyethylene membrane. The total baffle is a 45mm thick 'sandwich' of Birch Plywood, Polyethylene and MDF. This provides a rigid non-resonant platform, which is ideal for optimal performance of the drive units.

MF9
The ULTIMATUM MF9 loudspeaker has been designed purely for making music. It has evolved by virtue of Neat's approach; allowing music to determine the technology, rather than the other way around. This loudspeaker is the culmination of twenty years of expertise from the Neat Acoustics design team, working here without financial or creative inhibition.
Technical description
The MF9 is a complex, yet simply-conceived design incorporating a multi-chamber, multi-driver enclosure constructed from Birch Plywood. It is, essentially, a 2.5 way design, using six of Neat's 168mm main drivers (two of which have been re-designed to meet the exacting requirements of the ULTIMATUM range), a Focal 'inverted' titanium-dome tweeter, plus two super-tweeters.
Several distinguishing features combine to make the ULTIMATUM a very special loudspeaker. There are seven discrete internal cavities, with five of the drive units facing forward in an extended D'Appolito array.
The top and bottom drive units handle low-bass. The 'inner' pair handling bass and midrange. The main tweeter is in the centre, and is augmented by the two upward-firing EMIT super-tweeters.
Uniquely, two separate compound (iso-baric) chambers are employed for the low-bass sections, giving superb pitch articulation and control.
Three years of development have been spent on solving the problem of deleterious vibrational effects and the driver-mounting baffles (front & top) are decoupled from the main structure via a polyethylene membrane. The total baffle is a 45mm thick 'sandwich' of Birch Plywood, Polyethylene and MDF. This provides a rigid non-resonant platform, which is ideal for optimal performance of the drive units.
The crossover is a minimalist 5 element type (plus damping & attenuating resistors) employing precisely toleranced, low loss air-cored inductors and Neat's newly-developed polypropylene film & foil capacitors. Petite SX
The PETITE SX is the latest development of a classic loudspeaker which began life in 1989. A small two-way bass reflex design, it is capable of exceptional bass extension and drive, and a remarkable presentation of all types of music.
Technical description
The main drive unit is the latest version of that used in the upmarket Ultimatum range; a 6.5" doped paper cone with a ferrite magnet assembly and vented voice coil to enable high power handling without compression.
The tweeter used in the SX is a soft-fabric dome type with internal damping and a non-resonant chamber. The choice of tweeter is critical, because the tweeter lends the whole speaker its essential character and integrity. In this context, the tweeter's strengths of superb dynamic contrast and accurate tonal colour are well matched to those of the main drive unit.
The enclosure is rigidly constructed from MDF and is tuned by a rear firing reflex port. The internal crossover network uses highest quality close-tolerance components and all connections are soldered. Bi-wire connectors are provided, and further performance gains can be made with bi-amplified operation. The Petite is intended for placement on rigid stands and can be used close to walls or in free space.
As with all Neat loudspeakers, the crossover is the result of painstaking development. Neat prefer to judge all aspects of tuning & voicing by ear, rather than referring to measurements. The crossover in the Petite SX is a simple, hard-wired 3–element type. Low-loss air-core inductors are employed, as well as high-grade polypropylene capacitors. All crossover components are specified to be within very tight tolerances in order to ensure excellent pair matching.

Elite SX
The ELITE SX delivers genuine audio performance from a discreet and attractive enclosure by means of unorthodox thinking and the ingenious implementation of some unusual ideas.
Technical description
Unlike most bass reflex designs, the ELITE SX incorporates an innovative staggered port tuning design. This carefully judged system delivers a very convincing full-bodied bass performance, far more impressive than might be expected for such a small enclosure. The cabinet is raised above a plinth of solid slate, chosen for its superior bass control and midrange precision.

Motive 1
Although this is the taller of the two floorstanders in the Motive range, the Motive 1 is nevertheless a compact and elegant model. It will blend discreetly into your living room whilst its performance gives little away to larger and more expensive models.
Technical description
This loudspeaker uses a two and half-way configuration where the lower unit reproduces bass to underpin the full-range bass-mid driver. The bass reflex port is fitted to the bottom panel of the cabinet and is vented through an outlet in the stylishly sculpted MDF plinth.
The tweeter is the outstanding unit used throughout the Motive range which features a huge magnet assembly and a 25mm inverted titanium dome. This type of tweeter is usually only found in expensive high-end loudspeakers and is therefore an exceptional inclusion to the Motive designs.
In spite of the compact dimensions, the Motive One manages to accurately reproduce genuinely low bass notes with spacious and well-focussed stereo imagery.
